Nothing beats a good black and white drawing, and Spanish artist Martin Romero does it better than most. He’s got a nice variety of stuff on his site, from childrens books, to editorial, to some great comics. Be sure not to miss his Club of the Gentile for some extra lovely drawings and a good laugh to boot.
BigNickelgraphic take ordinary subway maps and routes and make them extraordinary. Take this design (above) of the London Tube map, which they’ve turned into a beautiful ‘art symbol’ of the city. The posters are printed on metallic paper and feature a ‘unique pearlescent surface that offers sharp details and saturated colors’. Read more
Terry Rogers is one of my favourite photorealistic painters. He used to work with huge linen canvases which he filled with captivating people, bored by their spoiled life and focused on satisfaction of their vices. His art talks about the new society of the young, rich, and beautiful. I appreciate the under-handed criticism that is always a constant in his artwork. Read more
After weeks of packing Australia’s crate with the best of Aussie nightlife, our crate was farewelled in lavish style at the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange send-off party in Sydney last week. We discovered Australia is swapping with Brazil, so we’re hanging out for the samba and cachaça to sway ashore and lead us astray.
