Malcolm Middleton (ex-Arab Strap) has just released his fifth solo album, Waxing Gibbous, composed from years worth of scribbles in notebooks, which were ‘chiseled and connived into being songs’. We checked in with him to get his words n the music that inspired the new recrding. He started with The Auteurs song, Lenny Valentino [listen below]: ‘I must have missed this band the first time around, but since reading Luke Haines’ autobiography, I am hooked. How old must Kermit be now? Not to old to collaborate with skater-friendly retailer Supreme and photographer Terry Richardson. Kermit, who usually wears nothing, has been hooked up with some new threads to advertise the brand. It seems Kermit and Terry are the perfect work partners: they’ve even released a video clip documenting the shoot.

If ever there was an opinion needed on the current Hip Hop scene, this is the one everyone should look to. More than likely, this homie is going to diss, if not one, then all of your favorite rappers and probably offend you. But I dare someone to say he is not speaking the truth. Plus, whose voice better to hear it in than that of Ghostface, Na’mean? I can read this blog for hours with a smile on my face.
The sound New Zealand band The Brunettes make is Hallmark card pop — naïve sincerity mixed with low-fi, casual kitsch. Says chief songwriter, Jonathan Bree: ‘You’ll find us somewhere between US punk and just before classic 60s romps’. And so we will.
A former interior decorator known for her clever use of colour, Dyment’s jewelry designs are informed by the same colourful aesthetic. Sophisticated and contemporary, her collection, including rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces, combines gems and diamonds, each stone carefully selected and arranged by Dyment, and then set in polished eighteen-carat gold.
