Beautifully macabre, Florence Blood’s work invites you into a world of strange and theatrical historical figures, some real, some imagined. When I first saw her most recent collection of work, inspired by the Commedia Del Arte (a very early form of Italian theatre), I was flawed by the original take on the theme. Stunning colour and a darkness lit with imagination.

Mararian’s Inky Dreadfuls exhibition of new works — Phobias, Foibles and Fiends — which is opening in July at Culver City, California’s Corey Helford Gallery: ‘The exhibition features an installation of over thirty macabre ink renderings which reflect a humorous, yet intensely personal examination of lost innocence in our modern society, dealing with psychological fears, character flaws, and complexes of the human id.
