Misery City is a new surreal noir comic from Markosia Publishing in London. The illustrations, by Vassilis Gogtzilas, are beautifully daring and dark. The story is written by Kostas Zachopoulos and tells the tale of Max Murray, an unlucky trench coat detective, forever damned in the concrete labyrinth of Misery City. Hunted by Hell’s lurking horrors, he has to struggle to just remain in one piece.

On Saturday April 6th, 2013, there were massive pillow fights in cities all around the world. This is footage I captured from the London, Trafalgar Square pillow fight. I was armed with a Canon 5D MII, a GoPro HD HERO 3 … and a pillow.

Chinese street artist DALeast states on his profile that he is “currently a human being”, which seems a bit of an understatement seeing how he creates all these ambitious spraypainted mural works wherever he goes. He’s been out and about in London in the last few weeks, doing some eye-popping 3D-like damage in places like Hanbury Street off Brick Lane and Rivington Street in Shoreditch.

This short colour video of London was shot in 1927 using a pioneering invention known as the Friese-Greene Colour Process. It’s a beautiful bit of film, and brings old London to life in a way I’ve never seen before. Poignant and mesmerising, and helped along by a great musical score.

Seemed like quite a while back since we mentally hyperventilated over the fact that Wish.co.uk actually organized zombie-fighting adventures in malls, so you can imagine how thrilled we were to find out that they’ve now emerged with even more zombie fun. There’s the Zombie Boot Camp, where you can learn how to shoot zombies down to death-after death; the Zombie Manor House crammed with hordes of zombies; and our favorite: Zombie Battle London featuring, erm, cockney zombies (that’s what they call ‘em).

Check out this great guerrilla marketing campaign from The Tutor Crowd. They have been going around the streets of London to correct spelling mistakes in graffiti. This is a genius idea to get media coverage and brand exposure. If you are working in a marketing department, look and learn. The advertising campaign was created by the Arc London agency.

Luxury boutique hotel Eccleston Square Hotel claims to be London’s most high tech hotel, and it’s easy to see why. While the rooms are gorgeous enough, they are also fitted out with 46” high-definition 3D plasma TVs, surround sound systems, iPod docking stations, VoIP phones and your very own iPad to tinker with. For those of us who hate cold bathroom floors, the marble bathrooms come with under-floor heating. If that doesn’t spoil its guests, we don’t know what will.

The city of London is a pretty exciting place visually, so it seems almost counterproductive to dine in the dark. But that’s exactly what you’ll do at Dans le Noir? London, where you can experience the world in pitch black while blind waiters serve you your organic meal. It’s supposed to help sharpen your other senses in the meantime, so we can’t think of a better place to start training for super-sensory powers than dining in the dark. Unfortunately, the restrooms are fully lit for safety reasons, so you can’t practise there.

The 3D-printed and hand-dyed makies are pretty cool — and equally impressive is Makielab’s dedication to local manufacturing. The dolls are printed and assembled in London and Amsterdam, entirely assembled in London, and even the packaging materials are sourced from within the UK. Well, now you know where to go if you want to bring your imaginary friend from childhood to life.

The inspiration may be water, but the Roca London Gallery designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, with its minimalistic undulating contoured walls and neutral, monochromatic hues, is so other-worldly that it calls to mind a spaceship instead. Even the tiles have wavy edges. Most of the galley’s furniture, from the reception desk to shelves, are made of glass-reinforced plastics.

It seemed like the future took a long time in coming — and now these holograms from years of watching Star Wars are finally coming true. At London Luton Airport, you’ll find almost living, breathing holographic airport staff who help with giving directions, advertising products — and generally get everyone moving along at the terminals. London-based fashion designer Mary Katrantzou has an anonymous quote on her Facebook page: “God gives us dreams a size too big so that we can grow into them.” Liberating stuff. With her latest collection for fall 2013, Katrantzou — who is absolutely wicked with prints — references photographer Edward Steichen’s works, juxtaposing both artificial architectural forms and natural landscapes onto shift dresses and the such so well that any woman wearing them would be proud to greet the future in them.

The ultra-luxe women’s only private club Grace Belgravia has opened in a historic grade-two listed building on West Halkin Street in central London for female sophisticates. It has all the good stuff, including a gym, spa, and a restaurant-bar with bio-dynamic wine on its menu.

Members get a personal Angel who acts as their personal assistant for the club. Lads who want in will have to wait for Thursday nights to enter the 11,500 sq–ft premises — the only time when they’re welcome to join the ladies for dinner.

Somewhere in Dalston, East London is the appointment-only Late Night Chameleon Cafe, a wonderland of a concept store hidden away out of sight. To get to it you’ll need to enter a side door from the streets in Shacklewell Lane down into the basement and trudge through the entrance, which is a hexagonal tunnel constructed out of raw wood and orange Perspex.

The 5,000 square feet space — split into three concept rooms, a book and record store, a music room and a working studio — is designed by set designer Gary Card.

If, like me, you are a huge fan of the high waisted master that is David Bowie, then you will be equally as excited about the cult exhibition at the V&A London. The exhibition, titled David Bowie Is, gives a unique opportunity to delve into a career spanning more than 40 years.

I cannot wait to view his costumes up close and am hopeful that Ziggy Stardust himself will be booming through the speakers in the background.
