Chris Bianchi is a freelance illustrator based in London. Since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2005 he has self-published two books, The Spinners and Box. He is part of the well-known illustration magazine, Le Gun.

Philip Hall studied illustration at Central Saint Martins, where he would often do very quick pictures in the space of minutes. Of his work, he says: ‘I work in a low tech way, which is when I realized that play within my work was very important to me. It’s often the catalyst for me, I find it inspiring, the possibility of what could be. More recently, I have started to do more detailed drawings, as I would like to sharpen my observation skills’.

I was feeling kind of picky this morning, searching for just the right thing to itch that Monday morning scratch. The beautiful origami like collages of London illustrator Kate Slater really did it. The fact that they’re 3D makes you convinced that you might actually be able to crawl inside one of them and reclaim a small bit of your childhood dangling delicately from marionette-like strings and casting shadows like a still from a puppet show.

London illustrator Simon Brader’s work is innovative and full of topical innuendo. I love his colour choices in particular, the soft watery washes blending energetically with the more stubborn, edgy textures.

Adam Bartlett’s illustrations take me back to a time when Saturday mornings were all Coco Pops and soft drinks, a soft, lazy pillow and a well-worn position in front of the TV. When the funny faces, sounds, and storylines of the bright-eyed cartoons somehow seemed more real than the scattered world around me. On this cold, windswept Brooklyn morning, it’s a wonderfully sharp burst of mid-80s nostalgia.

London-based illustrator Kerry Roper is fortunate enough to work mainly in the music and fashion industry. His art combines traditional illustration, photography and typography. He scored the lucrative Snickers campaign in America and has been featured in many books and magazines.

Artist and illustrator Erin Petson proves that there’s a living to be made from the ability to craft a perfect figure. Clients like Marie Claire and cosmetics giant Lancôme are queuing up to use her ‘bondage leaning glam-vintage images’. Her love of drawings blends seamlessly with textures and montage to create powerful and provocative images. It’s recommended that you see her work up close and personal at her Saturday Portobello Market stall. For anyone that can’t get to London, her website gives you a pretty good idea of what she’s capable of.

This illustration by Colette Elson was done for the Lady Luck Rules OK boutique in London’s East End, which she is doing a bit of work for.

It takes a certain amount of courage to be able to mix media without it looking like a sixth grade art project. London based illustrator Erin Petson masterfully combines textures and various media to powerful and provocative images with an old world glamour. And not a glue stick smudge in sight.

I love the vitality of Rod Hunt’s illustration work.
