Established in 1970, London-based Linda Farrow was one of the first brands to treat sunglasses as luxury wear in its own right. Her products quickly became ’le must’ eyewear amongst stylish Euro jet-setters, pioneering many of the shapes and styles that are still regarded as fashion-forward. Today, the company collaborates with the likes of Yohji Yamamoto, Alexander Wang, Raf Simmons, Balenciaga, Dries Van Noten, The Row, Oscar De la Renta and Agent Provocateur but having recently opened a store in Hong Kong, Linda Farrow is set to re-assert her place in her own right at the top of the fashion food chain.

Interactive fashion seems to be the latest trend in garment industry. After we covered the Colour In Dress earlier, we now present the M-Dress (Mobile Phone Dress), which promises to enable women to stay ‘connected’ while remaining stylish at the same time.

The little black silk jersey dress lets wearers make and receive calls by slipping their sim card under the label. Gesture recognition software allows the user to pick up a call by raising their hand to their ear and end a conversation by letting it fall to their side. The M-Dress, designed by the London-based fashion company CuteCircuit will be launched 2011 in Britain and comes with a collection of different ring tones. Its price remains undisclosed. The most important question is left unanswered though: how is this mobile masterpiece of technology to be washed?

Ivory Skies is a small t shirt label fresh out of London offering a point of difference in the very over crowded printed tee market. All their shirts are based on rare ancient artwork printed on nicely fitting white tees. Co-founder and designer, Carlo Salanitri, describes the label as ‘a rare style representation of the mystical past blended with today’s indie street fashion’. Ivory Skies has made big inroads since its creation with agents across Europe and a lot of interest from Australia and America.

For many years, Sam Arkus was a well-known tailor at 60 Berwick St, Soho, in London. I’ve walked past this store many times and wondered to myself, ‘is it open? Is it derelict?’ There are stories of him still living there. To my surprise, a new designer boutique has recently opened there and transformed this place into a store and gallery called Digitaria. Stavros Karelis and Eleftheria Arapoglou have created a fantastic fashion forward clothing space featuring their many delectable pieces for women and men. This is a must to visit, where you can pick up an original item of clothing and experience mystical loveliness downstairs in the gallery.

Highly unwearable but aesthetically riveting, Nova Dando is making killer waves in the notoriously hard to crack London fashion scene. Perhaps the reason she is so visible is that her collections are consistently outrageous, exceptional and innovative showstoppers. Her latest, inspired by a disco den, stands out from the pack for it’s blanket use of black, verging away from the stalwart shade only to hint at silver occasionally. It’s a refreshing take on an old favorite of the fashion underground, even more so after last season’s visual abomination of fluoro. An expert when it comes to that line between costumes and clothes, Nova Dando excels when making clothes that will perform, and for the dancefloor set, they won’t find a more impressive way to stand out. Nor will they likely find a more appropriate dancefloor to practice their performance art than Nova Dando’s herself, where she pairs with Lou Hayter of New Young Pony Club to become Lou-Nova.

Gareth Pugh is from England, is 25, and has been shaking up the fashion scene from London to New York since Fall 2006 when he sent his models down the runway in ruffles, Doc Martens and face paint. Continuing to be creative with his shows, this year his designs are radical and have a dark humor that makes them surprisingly wearable. Pugh has been featured in American Vogue and W, and even worked with fashion genius Rick Owens. His spring collection uses leather and black hosiery. The hosiery is my favorite. You can use it to layer under dresses, jackets, shorts and skirts.
