In the age of email, there is something uniquely special about a hand written note sent in the post. There’s a certain romanticism in opening the envelope, uncovering its contents, reading someone’s personal script. One studio adding to the allure of personalized cards, notes, and invitations is Pancake & Franks.

From her boutique San Francisco-based studio, designer Stacy Pancake creates charming, whimsical, and delicately illustrated papery. Her work has a special simplistic sensibility, where vast white space is juxtaposed against bright colors and charming drawings. And her favorite subject to inspire her pencil to paper? Food, of course.

Lime-green avocados, dazzling red cherries, and an understated hotdog are among the foodstuffs that don Pancake & Franks’ greeting cards and invitations giving them a fresh and playful feel. And for a select period, limited edition prints dolled up with kaleidoscopic fruits, vegetables, and other foodstuffs are on offer. To top it all off, Pancake & Franks papery is 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper printed with non-toxic soy-based ink. Now that’s something to write home about.
