Heather Noss, owner of Digby and Rose, pioneered a special type of embossing that creates a super-deep impression in paper, 50 percent deeper than traditional letterpress printing. Known as Letterpress Light, the method is exclusive to Digby and Rose and was recently featured in Washingtonian Magazine online.

One studio adding to the allure of personalized cards, notes, and invitations is Pancake & Franks.

From her boutique San Francisco-based studio, designer Stacy Pancake creates charming, whimsical, and delicately illustrated papery. Her work has a special simplistic sensibility, where vast white space is juxtaposed against bright colors and charming drawings. And her favorite subject to inspire her pencil to paper? Food, of course.

Lime-green avocados, dazzling red cherries, and an understated hotdog are among the foodstuffs that don Pancake & Franks’ greeting cards and invitations giving them a fresh and playful feel.
