When I was on tour, everyone was in the habit of using the word ‘sick’ as a superlative as in ‘Dude, that band was sick, I can’t wait to hear their record.’ Sick can refer to anything you deem amazing beyond comprehension. Take Laurie Lipton’s pencil and charcoal drawings for example — with a dark, gothic sensibility, the London-based New Yorker creates cynical images that often deal with political, social, religious, and macabre themes. Every time I see her work I can just imagine my bandmates saying “Siiiiiiiick” in unison. Read more
I’ve found her work to be incredibly satirical, sexual, and often quite creepy. Comic, TV and other various pop culture characters are thrown into peculiar situations, generally ending on a sexually covered satirical note. Read more

Who says the Swedes have got a monopoly on seasonal ice hotels? This one in Kemi, northern Finland, is the world’s largest snow castle, standing seventeen metres high and with walls that are 1,100 metres long. It has restaurants, an art gallery, a hotel and a chapel. In fact, since opening in the early 1990s, it’s been quite a hit for tourists to get married at the snow chapel. Italian brand Brionvega has resurrected the classy Radiofonografio piece first created in 1965. The updated version is just like the original turntable/radio unit, but also has a CD/DVD player.

The outer gradient displays the minutes while the inner gradient shows the hours. The rings interact, creating an ever-changing pattern of design and colour.
