Damn this song is catchy! Yacht is the cunning alter-ego for duo Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans — an accomplished science writer, artist, and veteran of the LA noise scene. After they recorded a tongue-in-cheek love letter to LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy in the form of their track, Summer Song, Murphy signed them to DFA Records. All of which brings us to their new album, See Mystery Lights, and this track off it: the bouncy, raga tinged Pyschic City. We have it available for free download via the Music Download section of Lost At E Minor, along with new tracks by La Snacks, Magic Wands, Polly Scattergood, and Reed KD.

Kent Williams is one of my favorite artists and his new show at Merry Karnkowsky in Los Angeles does not disappoint. He’s ballsy as hell with his brushwork and the movement and color and textures all blow me away. Read more

Sydney is not as well known for its great bars as other Australian cities. The city centre is dominated by over-priced style bars, while the suburbs are ruled by beer barns overflowing with terrible music, pokies, and sports. Nestled in the back streets of Surry Hills, surprisingly close to the city, The Cricketer’s Arms bucks the trend, with an open fire-place, great contemporary music selection, comfortable couches, a cosy outdoor area, decent food, free board games, and the laidback vibe that’s now all too rare in Sydney. Paulina Bojór mixes a timeless earthiness with sculptor. She grew up in the Polish Peoples Republic and there she began by embellishing old clothes, experimenting with bright colours and the avant-garde.
