I’ll start by describing the band, Burnt Ones, by using their own keyword tags from their BandCamp site: ‘Bubblegum Psych Electric Sleaze Garage Rock San Francisco’. However, I’d like to add Indianapolis on the end of that list since the band started out here before moving to the West Coast.

They’ve been having some nice success since the move, and it’s great to see some hometown people out there doing it. I like this band because they bring out some of the best parts of the music I hold tight to my heart. A little Jesus and Mary Chain, but not so, err, dickish. A little Beach Boys, but without all those songs I don’t like.

Austin’s Woven Bones may be the second coming of Jesus and Mary Chain with their fuzzed-out, echoey garage rock. Sometimes they sound a little Iggy Pop-ish, sometimes a little Suicide-ish. This is not a bad thing. I like this.
