Screw robots, the futures lies with the monkey. A restaurant in Japan has shunned its country’s reputation for technological advancement and opted to use the primates to wait tables for it’s increasingly supportive customers. Hmmm, it’s a little disturbing to see a monkey walking on two legs, dressed in a waistcoat and carrying a beer.
Photographer Paul Octavious uses bits of the world around him like paint on a canvas, drawing out the drama inherent in mundane objects and every day activities.
I’ve always liked to make jokes and scribble. At first I thought I should be a doctor, but after that didn’t pan out, I turned to a life cartooning. It’s true what they say, ‘laughter is the best medicine’. And Beet Stew is the best tasting medicine.
This clip had such an impact on me when it first came out, back in the day. There’s just something so poignant about the idea that some people you pass on the street everyday have a little bit more insight into their world — our world — than we could ever imagine. It’s beautiful and confronting, and it’s all set to the most wonderfully evocative music.
A project that has been a pioneer of the revitalization of downtown Kansas City, this building’s goal was to promote the Central Library as well as represent the city itself. Read more

I haven’t been this excited by a band in a long time. Florida’s Black Kids have crept under — and now over — the radar through a demo and some serious internet buzz from NME and Pitchfork. Not only are they ridiculously good, they’ve also offered their four-song demo — Wizard of Ahhh’s — for free on their MySpace page. Sweet.
