With the global economy in ruin and savings having dried up under the excitement of an endless credit tap, this Ikeman Piggy bank could well be the answer. Once you make a small deposit into it, the LCD screen allows you to choose between five virtual characters, who interact with you every time it gets a top up. Heck, deposit a decent amount and they’ll even offer you compliments. Forget the bailout of Wall Street. We urge the American government to buy one of these for every household instead.
Just like myself, Courtney Reagor counts becoming a professional cupcake maker as one of her interests. She had me at ‘cupcake’, but easily held my interest with the predominantly hand-drawn illustrations on her site. Last week when the 2008 ARIA nominations were released, I was so happy to see the recognition of Melbourne’s Eddy Current Suppression Ring. Their album Primary Colours is pure, unadulterated Aussie rock, standing out from the numerous electro releases we’ve had this year. The band manages to capture that wonderful pub-vibe without any pretension or tragic nostalgia. Primary Colours speaks to people who still seek an existence that is all about wearing ripped jeans, loitering and punching people in the face … not in a violent way, but because your fist flailed in that direction while you were thrashing around front of stage.
We love the vivid colours in the Freak La Notte range of t-shirts. The French label’s collection of shirts are like little canvases of super-styled surrealism – bold, elegant, and enchanting.
