Our friends over at Vice have just released a gigantopotamus [their words] of photographic gems [our words], featuring 240 glossy pictures of people by the likes of Harry Benson, Ryan McGinley, Jamie Lee Curtis Taete, Terry Richardson, ex-Warhol’s Factory guy Stephen Shore, Richard Kern, and a Japanese guy who likes to dress up as famous non-Japanese people. Yes, some people have all the fun. Oh and there are two highly collectible covers for you to track down too. Bingo.
Canadian painter Aleksandra Rdest looks to forms in nature — clouds, cells, sound waves — for a jumping-off point for her large-scale abstract paintings. The translucence she achieves with acrylic gives her pieces a luminous, backlit quality that captivates the viewer much in the way that Mark Rothko’s paintings do. Read more

Yu Xiao was born in Zi Bo, Shandong, China. She received her M.A. in Photography from China Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2009. In this work, Never Grow Up, Yu Xiao digitally created child versions of herself as a commentary on China’s one child rule and the intense focus on childhood that results. Read more
