When I was asked to DJ for Betsey Johnson at NY Fashion Week this spring, I thought it was time I sprung for a new set of headphones. I wanted quality, but something a little more discreet than the usual RoboCop shiny plastic jobees. What I found was perfect: the new-ish TMA-1′s by AIAIAI. Designed with input from badasses like Warp’s Hudson Mohawke and tested and used by some of my favorite artists: James Murphy, Ellen Allien, Hot Chip, and others.

Damn this song is catchy! Yacht is the cunning alter-ego for duo Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans — an accomplished science writer, artist, and veteran of the LA noise scene. After they recorded a tongue-in-cheek love letter to LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy in the form of their track, Summer Song, Murphy signed them to DFA Records. All of which brings us to their new album, See Mystery Lights, and this track off it: the bouncy, raga tinged Pyschic City.
