Jacob Ring is a photographer from Sydney whose work at one level seems instantly familiar, faithfully recording ordinary objects and commonplace angles. But they are also filled with strangeness; warped inundations of colour, unnatural meetings between pigments. Perhaps their oddities are something to do with his synesthesia, a sensory condition Ring has had since birth, which ignites a constant stream of sounds and visuals in his head.
FOR CREATIVE INSPIRATION
In partnership with our friends at Optus, we present the third in a three part Lost At E Minor video series that puts the spotlight on some young, handpicked Australian creatives, doing inspirational things within their chosen fields. Episode Three features 16-year old Melbourne-based producer, Gab Strum (aka Japanese Wallpaper), who has racked up thousands of plays over the past year or so via a number of well-blogged remixes ranging from City Calm Down and The Townhouses to bootlegs of The xx and Bon Iver.
