Maybe working with David Lynch on the set of Blue Velvet had some kind of lasting effect, but whatever her inspiration, Isabella Rossellini’s new Green Porno series promises to be fascinating. In these short films, Rossellini dresses up as male insects and simulates bug sex with giant female fireflies, spiders, house flies, dragonflies, and a few other species of creepy crawlers. Read more

Many years ago, the Italian designer Fupete and I collaborated on an issue of the magazine I was editing at the time, STU, his intricate art direction giving space and life to the cacophony of illustrations and photography bursting from its pages. The guy is one hell of an art director, and a brilliant designer as well, his latest work revealing his well-developed sense of shape and texture, which meshes seamlessly with his subtle use of color gradients. I love this track by London based rock group, Scanners, which is off their latest album, Submarine. Having toured with acts such as The Horrors, The Wedding Present, The Charlatans, Electric Six, and Juliette & The Licks, Scanners could well blow up in 2010. Figuratively speaking, not literally. No, that wouldn’t be fun.
