For the guys of this world that just can’t get it going, there’s this brilliant new iPhone app from Angelina Amerson. As Amerson told PixelatedGeek, My Virtual Girlfriend has twenty levels of relationship to complete: ‘To complete a level, you must make your virtual girlfriend happy and fill your heart meter up by completing an action with her, like buying her roses, holding her hands, giving her a kiss, speaking to her, touching her, and by just responding to her questions’. All together now: ahhhhhh!

Persuasive Games has just released a version of its game Airport Security (in which you play a security gate officer checking irritated passengers while adjusting to ever-changing and arbitrary TSA regulations) for the iPhone. The game, now known as Jetset, uses location-awareness to detect which airport the player is nearest to unlock various ‘souvenirs’ which can be sent to friends via Facebook.
Jinyoung Yoon studied photography at Arizona State University and is now based in Seoul. Of this project, she says, ‘I seek what is at the boundary of grotesque and beautiful. The ambiguous feeling that is both repulsive and attractive at the same time reminds me of the predicament we face in everyday life, including the relationships we get involved in’. Read more

We’re smitten (kitten) by the look of the new Standard Hotels’ Pendleton blankets, which were designed by the artists Geoff McFetridge and Chris Johanson. Composed of 82 per cent pure virgin wool and 18 per cent cotton, only 40 of each blanket design have been made. Read more
Our friends over at SNAP!, Montreal’s only free and independent arts and lifestyle magazine have just released their fourth issue in which they look back and celebrate the faded beauty of past eras, grandmas and grandpas, Polaroids, antique finds, old wisdom and vintage style. Yeeha! They also remember the best of 2008 in Montreal arts, with a variety of writers and photographers giving their take on their favourite cultural discoveries.
A culmination of nearly four years of writing and recording, Omaha quintet, The Faint are preparing to release their fifth album, Fasciinatiion, on August 5 on the band’s own newly-formed label, blank.wav. Working without any time constraints, the songs went through many recorded incarnations before finding their final forms. The result is the best album in the band’s career, a record that is the purest culmination of The Faint’s brilliant musical instincts, ideas and aesthetic, with each member contributing equally to its creation.
It doesn’t transform or actually play music, but this watch with a face that looks like a cassette tape, is still pretty cool. Read more
