But Interpol have re-emerged from the dark and are back, giving away their first single Lights for free via email to thank us for the wait. Banks sings in his typical fashion, while guitars meander into a moody sound. The band have proclaimed their forthcoming album will be more like their favoured Turn On The Bright Lights days. Having toured extensively in 2009, the London-based trio took the later part of last year to enter the studio with producer Gareth Jones (Grizzly Bear, Interpol, Depeche Mode, These New Puritans). Now, the debut We Have Band album is due to drop in a few days.

We’ve been enjoying the new tracks, they’re well balanced, with that typical upbeat electro pop that they’re already known for, but also include some amazing tracks that slow things down a bit (Piano and Buffet, in particular). And they’ll be supporting the release with yet another world tour — starting in the UK first and then moving through the rest Europe across summer. Be sure to attend an intimate show if you can. Otherwise, you’ll have to continue waiting patiently like the rest of us.

With the lengthy titled opener, And Now You’re Old Enough, I Think That You Should Know, earning these indie rock purists high rotation on Australian radio network Triple J and community radio, the cheeky quartet have just added a slot at the Big Day Out music festival to their list of accolades. With raw bone bass lines and insanely addictive beats, this E.P needs more than just kitschy multi-coloured teddies littered across the cover, it needs their trademark disclaimer — diabetics beware.
