Public librarians in Michigan, Mary Kelly and Holly Hibner, have been holding the book fort for over a decade and know a thing or two about awful library books. So much so that they’ve set up a site of actual library holdings — from their travels, snooping in library catalogs and hearing from library staff all over the world — that are somewhat questionable.

Libraries rock. It also says a lot about the super random world of published books. If anyone wants to gift us Diet, Crime and Delinquency with that classic cover of a wayward teen stabbing donuts in cold blood, we will love you for life.

Clients From Hell documents the torture suffered by talented creatives at the hands of ignorant clients. It helps put things in perspective – if you’re having an awful day, a quick browse confirms there are others in similar positions who’ve been through worse than you have. Or maybe not. There’s some gold in the archives; some of our favourites are:

“I’d like to see more earth-tones, but not browns. Perhaps a shade of caramel?”, “Let’s get together and figure out a way for you to work more hours for less money”, and the following classic conversation. Designer: “Let’s talk about colour first, do you have any colours in mind?” Client: “Well I like corvettes and the movie Somethings Got to Give.” Truth is stranger than fiction! Do you have any to add?
