Ubantu is derived from the Zulu word for humanity and promoting the virtues of kindness is the ethos behind this new girls streetwear label which was set-up by South African raised, Sydney-based designer Aimee Pezaro. The t-shirts in particular are amazing — vibrant, dynamic, and made for comfort. We like. [see also Get Fighted Clothing]
Teatrio, an arts association in Italy, is behind an amazing traveling exhibition titled The Fabulous Colored Pencils which has been touring through Italy for more than a year and features what they consider to be the best 40 female illustrators worldwide. Read more
Here’s a bunch of photos from the recent retrospective of performance artist Marina Abramovic at MoMA, The Artist is Present. The pictures are portraits of people sitting across Abromovic herself, staring at her in silence. The experience left many people in tears. Read more
The philosophy of a beginning is to me, a wonderful concept. I really enjoy flicking through the back catalogues of a musician and discovering their origin, then tracing their musical journey to the present. So for American-born, Paris-based sister duo CocoRosie, who released their third album The Adventure of Ghosthouse and Stillborn to much acclaim, making the trip to their beginnings is more than worth the journey: their debut album, Le Maison de Mon Reve (released back in 2004) was a gentle stroll through their pop and classical influences, which melt together seamlessly into a backdrop for their unique and enchanting voices.
Can this be true? Florent, the legendary eatery of New York’s Meat Packing District, is about to become the next victim of sky-rocketing Manhattan leases. Luckily we still have one more month to be nostalgic at Florent. I’m going (with a whole bunch of friends) this weekend. Read more
What can’t Jay Z do? Not content with having recorded the contemporary tribute to Gotham City, the all round entrepreneur has just launched an online lifestyle magazine called Life and Times, which the mighty one will personal curate.
I adore the band Health and am left fascinated by this glamorously bouncy We Are Water remix by Canadian duo Azari & III, who have taken it to outer house-space. It’s pure 80s late night disco at its finest. Ghost Buster meets Short Circuit, anyone?
