This is pretty old, but it’s still amusing. It’s a tribute to H.R. Giger and vegetable portrait artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo by digital artist Till Nowak.

Celtic Frost frontman Thomas Gabriel Fischer disbanded his iconic extreme metal outfit to form Triptykon, a project which Fischer states is a continuation of the ideas formed while writing the last Celtic Frost record, Monotheist. The band’s debut album, Eparistera Daimones, does not disappoint, with lumbering tempos, crushing riffs, and Fischer’s deep and menacing voice.

H.R. Giger even gave rare permission for the band to use one of his paintings, Vlad Tepes, for the album cover. Definitely one of the best records of 2010 as far as metal is concerned.

I’m not so much into Chet Zar’s comic-book and noir-inspired stuff, but his more fantastical and straight-forward horror images, many of which remind me of a combination between Mark Ryden and H.R. Giger, really appeal to the metalhead in me.
