We’ve been playing around recently in the Lost At E Minor office (in the nicest possible way!) with HP’s new TouchSmart TX2 notebook. It pushes the technology out there a bit, featuring a touchscreen monitor on a swivelling hinge and a nifty magnetic stylus. Swivel the monitor around, close it over the keyboard, and you’ve got a drawing tablet for those digital masterpieces. Use two fingers on the screen and you can do neat tricks like resizing and rotating images. Or go back to your roots and simply use the keyboard. Now, that’s what we call fun.
I find myself simultaneously fixated and terrified with human development and extinction. The way we are enveloping everything like ivy. There is also an incredible beauty in this, and artists that reflect this tend to pull me in like the proverbial maelstrom. Read more
The genre of heavy metal, particularly its extremes, is not known for good taste. For me, this has always been part of its appeal. Still, there are album covers that make even me cringe. Here are a few of the worst metal album covers I’ve seen lately. Read more

Dating or married musician duos are always interesting beasts. Their intertwining affections and chemical reactions make for a potent alchemy of musical magic. Along the same vein of O-era Damien Rice and Lisa Hennigan, Glen Hansard (frontman of The Frames) and Marketa Irglova are the latest lovey-dovey couple with longings expressed in fingerpicked guitars and mourning cellos. I’m not much of a jewelry guy, but if bling is in order, it’s ordered from my man Osa at Complete Technique. Originally from Japan, Osa is now based in Dumbo, Brooklyn and makes the finest metal jewelry, on par with any of his ancestor’s samurai swords. From speaker rings to turntable pendants, it’s all fresh and mostly music or hip-hop related. He’s been at it for about ten years and works harder than most people I know. If you need some jewelry, show him some love.
