Though now based in the United States, Simon Birch remains a darling of the contemporary art world in Hong Kong. The majority of his work features immense paintings with figures that seem to be falling or jumping in various degrees of abstraction. Though these pieces deal with themes of transition, Birch has also explored the concept of myth as he expands into installation, reflected in 2010 in HOPE AND GLORY: A CONCEPTUAL CIRCUS, Hong Kong’s largest installation to date.
