Holly Thoburn has traveled the world photographing decaying walls, doorways and surfaces from places as diverse as London, Berlin, India and Australia. For her forthcoming exhibition at No Walls Gallery in Brighton, some of the best of these photographs are recreated into densely layered and detailed canvases, each having been on a journey and story of it’s own. Scratching Beneath the Surface brings together a collection of works drawing on over 10 years of inspiration. It’s on now and runs until December 2.
FOR CREATIVE INSPIRATION
In partnership with our friends at Optus, we present the third in a three part Lost At E Minor video series that puts the spotlight on some young, handpicked Australian creatives, doing inspirational things within their chosen fields. Episode Three features 16-year old Melbourne-based producer, Gab Strum (aka Japanese Wallpaper), who has racked up thousands of plays over the past year or so via a number of well-blogged remixes ranging from City Calm Down and The Townhouses to bootlegs of The xx and Bon Iver.
