Bored of the too-easy point/click way we find new music, I decided to make my own songs harder and more interesting to get hold of. I spent a year hiding CDs with my music on in cities around the world (with a little help from friends). I filmed the whole thing, including the responses I got, and edited it to a song from my new EP, Realityicide.

I stumbled upon this cool street style blog that shows original and edgy people on the streets of Helsinki. Punk, Goth, Harajuku, Pin-up or retro, the people featured here have a unique sense of style. Many of the clothes are modified or created by the owners to fit their personalities and each photo has its own description written by the person in the picture.

Helsinki-based Huttunen-Lipasti-Pakkanen Architects built the beautifully simple Villa Mecklin on the archipelago of their home country. Nestled into small depression in the rocks along the shore, the little retreat is made from untreated wood that will grey naturally and blend in with the environment. It also features a sauna and a stove-heated cabin. No bells or whistles here, but its beauty lies in its simplicity.

Illustrator Jesse Auersalo divides his time between Brooklyn and Helsinki. His distinctive, character-driven work is marked by an aesthetic he describes as ‘polished and clean, as well as sticky and dirty.’ In his first-ever New York presentation, at Bumble and bumble on March 3, Auersalo will discuss his design background, its relationship to his personal life, and how they all affect what he is doing now.

Helsinki-based company Character cleans and refurbishes discarded letters and logos to make them into LED-lit, weather-proof, individual design objects that can be mounted/displayed indoors or outdoors.

Helsinki electronic producer Vladislav Delay has recorded for three of Europe’s most challenging labels: Chain Reaction, Mille Plateaux, and Max.Ernst. He grew up trained in jazz and still counts Philly Joe Jones — the drummer for the first Miles Davis Quintet — as one of his prime influences.
