We’re pleased to welcome the legendary pop culture artist and father of the Agit Pop Movement Ron English as a contributor to Lost At E Minor, writing about his favorite creative and cultural discoveries of recent times. English has just completed a successful showing of new works called Lazarus Rising at the Elms Lesters Painting Rooms, in which he paid homage to Picasso’s 1937 masterpiece, Guernica, transcribing it to reflect our troubled times alongside an extraordinary body of new works. Keep an eye out for English’s posts on Lost At E Minor over the coming weeks as he joins contemporaries such as Shepard Fairey and Tristan Eaton as recent guest writers. Read more

I spent last weekend at the New York Film Festival watching director Wong Ka-Wai’s inspiring lecture and premier of Ashes Of Time Redux, the remastered, re-edited, re-scored 1994 Hong Kong classic. It was just drop-dead gorgeous and painfully beautiful. Words fail me. Wong Ka-Wai is just pure genius. It opens Friday in New York City. Don’t miss it.
New York-based designer Ryan Sullivan’s shirts are printed in his studio in low runs. His latest batch works with geometric space on silky cotton poly blend shirts.
In late 80s and early 90s, the Illustrated Laser Ray and futuristic grids aesthetic was a sensation, years before it began to diminish abruptly. But just like every fashion, it became mainstream and mutated into portrait backgrounds. A large amount of these pictures are documented on the Laser Portraits websites. Read more
The uber-hip French producer M83 has compiled a Secret Playlist for us in which he props Brian Eno, Julee Cruise, and Tears For Fears’ Head Over Heels: ‘This song was the biggest influence for my new album. Whitest Boy Alive follow their own rules: no overdubs, no FX, and the music is always recorded live in one take. Fronted by Erlend Øye (of Kings Of Convenience notoriety), the Berlin collective produce a distinctive blend of minimalist melodies and pillowy grooves. And on the eleven tracks that constitute their new album, Rules, they convey one polite directive: please, move your body.
