I love the rich colours and sense of unhurried serenity about the work of artist, Gregory Euclide. Of his latest series, he says: ‘My work explores the way we experience nature and how this is tied to the cultural practice of constructing landscapes as idealized images. When we are in nature we experience the world through all of our senses in a dynamic way, but at the same time we are framing what we see through cultural expectations of nature is. My work explores the contradictions between the projection of idealized, picturesque views of landscape and our desire to have an authentic experience in nature’. Read more

Gregory Euclide uses paper as a canvas through which to represent the ‘interstice of nature and humanity’. This piece above is made from acrylic, bubble wrap, foam, milkweed, pencil, pine cone, plastic, resin, satin ribbon, styrofoam, wax, and wood. His work will be exhibited as a part of the SCOPE Art Fair in New York this week. Read more
Benjamin Duke depicts insane landscapes busy with catastrophic car crashes, birthing mothers, smarmy twenty-somethings, and heartfelt human interaction. His work speaks to the overload of information in our culture, right down to the choice of canvas size – some of his paintings are as tall as eight feet, dominating the gallery space – yet there is a beauty to his economic brush strokes and dazzling pallette that leaves a strong impression on the viewer. When I did the Master Cleanse diet a few years ago — the one where you consume nothing but lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper for ten days — I sat at work looking at pictures of food as if they were porn. Scanwiches would have gotten me hot and bothered like nothing else.
There’s no shortage of bands channeling the surf rock and psych of the 1960s, but the Super Vacations’ sloppy vocals, drunken guitar riffs, and blown out production give them a knowing swagger that has as much in common with Beat Happening and Thee Headcoats as with the Pyramids. They seem to take pride in how bad they are live, but their debut record shows a lot of potential.

Busy P is the man. This design pays homage to one of the world’s most enigmatic pop-culture mavericks. The French maestro is almost single-handedly responsible for the success of both Daft Punk and Justice. The Midas Touch design references this with the golden robot (representing Daft Punk) and the golden cross (representing Justice) — the idea being that everything Busy P touches turns to gold.
