This Gotye video by Lucinda Schreiber is great. It has a really creepy mood to it, in a good way. The question is, will it go mega-viral the way one of Gotye’s other videos famously did. Only time, and YouTube, will tell.
Nine months in the making, two minutes in the playing! Is it worth it? Damn yeah. This is the new video for the new Gotye song and it is difficult footsteps to follow in, given the runaway world-wide success of the video Somebody I Used To Know. But this is nearly as compelling. Nearly! And […]
I heard Gotye do the original song a few weeks ago through Pandora. Then I found this cover. It has gotten millions of views within a month or so and they are all well deserved. The cover is by the band, Walk off the Earth.
The original was a wonderful voyeuristic peek into someone else’s break-up pain, full of tortured facial expressions and art deco graphics which crawled across the screen like an all-consuming fury. This cover version may well top that. Unbelievable!
I was recently introduced to this artist and video through a friend. Since watching the video for the first time, I haven’t really been able to stop. The video is perfect. The song says it perfectly for everyone that’s ever been broken up with.
For those of us who have been following Gotye’s progress from way back in the day, the perfect symmetry, harmony, and sheer Sting-like zenness of this wonderful track comes as no surprise. The vocal chops of Kiwi songstress Kimbra is equally as begulling. Together, it’s serenity in colour. We love.
