<p>What happens when you bring locations that exist within movie realities into, well, real life? <a href="http://googlestreetscene.com/" target="_blank">Google Street Scene</a>, which squeezes iconic movie scenes into Google Maps’ Street View feature, that’s what. It’s the ingenious brainchild of Tre Baker, who has recreated these movie scenes in Google Street View style — he even blurs out the faces of the people in the shots. </p>
<p>We love how these pictures don’t give away the film titles straight away but make you guess where they&#8217;re from. Still, they’re linked to the movies’ IMDB pages if you’re curious about their origin. We really dig the cafe blow-up scene from Inception.</p>

<p>Have you ever wondered what would happen if Instagram had a love child with Google Street View? As ridiculous as that sounds, the guys from Social Media Information Lab, at the School of Communications and Information at Rutgers University, have recently completed a project called <a href="http://sm.rutgers.edu/thebeat/" target="_blank">The Beat</a>. It&#8217;s a website where you can see Instagram photos and what’s around them. It’s actually a pretty clever idea. They use Instagram photos users added to their map, and combine them with the corresponding Google Street View location to help explore topics in a new way. <span id="more-129324"></span></p>

<p>Antarctica recently became a lot more accessible to us all right on Google Street View. These precious panoramic sights are going up on <a href="http://www.google.com/culturalinstitute/worldwonders/" target="_blank">Google’s World Wonders Project</a> site, where you will also find some other amazing locations in the world. Well, you can’t quite do a walkthrough in the ‘hood like you can with the usual Street View, but you can get stunning 360° views of historic Antarctic sights such as the <a href="https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en-US&amp;ll=-85.000056,-44.655776&amp;spn=0.0009,0.015632&amp;sll=-85.000000,-44.656416&amp;layer=c&amp;cid=3987634083228589274&amp;panoid=uZ7YCXJGSbyDxIbY-wPWow&amp;cbp=13,235.6,,0,0&amp;gl=US&amp;t=h&amp;z=17&amp;cbll=-84.999999,-44.656316" target="_blank">South Pole Telescope</a>, <a href="https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en-US&amp;ll=-77.553062,166.169007&amp;spn=0.002225,0.015632&amp;sll=-77.552923,166.168368&amp;layer=c&amp;cid=18136866687947903283&amp;panoid=IOpxazFg6mE9O-qaLRC_uQ&amp;cbp=13,82.46,,0,0&amp;gl=US&amp;t=h&amp;z=17&amp;cbll=-77.552947,166.168246" target="_blank">Shackleton&#8217;s hut</a> (yes, still standing its ground and intact after more than a century!), <a href="https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en-US&amp;ll=-77.636289,166.418238&amp;spn=0.00221,0.015632&amp;sll=-77.636152,166.417589&amp;layer=c&amp;cid=2717668517326861684&amp;panoid=AfGF5tFC13NdN-qI2yHC8Q&amp;cbp=13,65.26,,0,0&amp;gl=US&amp;t=h&amp;z=17&amp;cbll=-77.636236,166.417266" target="_blank">Scott’s hut</a>, Cape Royds Adélie <a href="https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en-US&amp;ll=-77.554275,166.161648&amp;spn=0.002326,0.015632&amp;sll=-77.554485,166.163911&amp;layer=c&amp;cid=1327603540269680762&amp;panoid=dyBPutj3E_cbYPibZMvE-Q&amp;cbp=13,291.91,,0,0&amp;gl=US&amp;t=m&amp;z=17&amp;cbll=-77.554275,166.161648" target="_blank">Penguin Rookery</a> and the Ceremonial <a href="https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en-US&amp;ll=-85.000013,-54.150796&amp;spn=0.000694,0.013014&amp;sll=-85.000001,-54.150882&amp;layer=c&amp;cid=15101943118581729085&amp;panoid=Bocmr5QwQpVeFeE58jlKKQ&amp;cbp=13,183.96,,0,4.38&amp;gl=US&amp;t=m&amp;z=17&amp;cbll=-85.00001,-54.150798" target="_blank">South Pole</a>.
