As a portrait photographer, Gay Block began in 1973 with portraits of her own affluent Jewish community in Houston and later expanded this study to include girls at summer camp and this series on Jewish retirees living South Miami Beach. Her recently released photography book, About Love, is a retrospective, highlighting Block’s thirty-five year career and includes never before published work. This is a selection from the chapter, ‘Miami, South Beach’. [via Feature Shoot]
FOR CREATIVE INSPIRATION
In partnership with our friends at Optus, we present the third in a three part Lost At E Minor video series that puts the spotlight on some young, handpicked Australian creatives, doing inspirational things within their chosen fields. Episode Three features 16-year old Melbourne-based producer, Gab Strum (aka Japanese Wallpaper), who has racked up thousands of plays over the past year or so via a number of well-blogged remixes ranging from City Calm Down and The Townhouses to bootlegs of The xx and Bon Iver.
