On May 14, Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California, is presenting Illustrated Type, an impressive collection of typography-based artwork contributed by more than 30 international artists, including Ed Fella, Brendan Monroe, and Jessica Hische. The exhibit features a variety of mediums: pen and ink, acrylic, crystallized moss, paper-cut, hand embroidery, video projection, and more. Read more

Frank Stockton finally has some great prints for sale through Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra. These are reproductions of some pretty racy images he did for Penthouse awhile back. Who says the guys are just reading those mags for the photos?
Brock Lefferts is a talented illustrator and graphic designer from Arizona. He has started a Tumblr where he intends to upload one of his amazing psychadelic prints every day. I really like the first 21 results so far. Read more
I got into comic books right when artists like Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri, Todd McFarlane, and Erik Larsen dominated the scene. Rob Liefeld, who was also enjoying a good deal of fame with his work with X-Force and The New Mutants at the time, was the only prominent artist I absolutely hated. Read more
Not much more needs to be said about this. Ricky Gervais, the funniest man in
Monet and The Impressionists is on display at Sydney’s Art Gallery of New South Wales until January 26, 2009. Alive with bold brushstrokes and dappled colours, the exhibit features 58 masterpieces by Cezanne, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Pissarro and Monet himself, among many others that have never been shown in Australia. It was amazing to view some of the finest quality works that revolutionised modern painting and the way natural light is portrayed on canvas. Go Monetise yourself and see Rough Weather, and all those serial haystack paintings.
I’m enjoying the writing on the recently launched The Epi-Cure blog, which discusses the ‘latest scientific studies on health and nutrition’, and features interviews with ‘expert scientists, dieticians, and nutritionists’. The site’s founder and editor, Michelle Grey, also runs tasty, healthy recipes from New York chef Benjamin Towill, including today’s installment: Stuffed Zucchini Flowers [above]. Hmmm hmm. Read more
Skeletonbreath pound out some pretty raging post-punk anthems with a violin taking the lead rather than a vocalist. The trio can get surprisingly loud, despite frontman Robert Pycior’s classically trained virtuosity.
