I’ve always liked to make jokes and scribble. At first I thought I should be a doctor, but after that didn’t pan out, I turned to a life cartooning. It’s true what they say, ‘laughter is the best medicine’. And Beet Stew is the best tasting medicine.

Wait and click when you feel the power animal approaching. Apparently I should ‘leap for joy’ as I’m fortunate to have the dolphin as my power animal. The dolphin is so full of joy, he cannot help but leap into the air, just for the sheer pleasure of being alive. Should I purchase the PDF with a photo and the description of my power animal? Or just get the ringtone so I can be reminded of its power whenever my phone rings?

The one thing that gets me going just as much as listening to or playing music is the visual identity of it all – most specifically, album cover artwork. I am a sucker for a great record cover, and over the years, I have bought albums based solely on the artwork. Read more

Sometimes you discover a blog that just makes you laugh out loud, a blog you must share with a friend, where you both sit on your computers connected by Skype laughing at the different posts that you discover. Posts with titles such as ‘I am better then your kids‘ and ‘Ben Stiller should star in every movie’ are just a few to get you going.

How Much Fish is a simple ‘fish calculator’ that determines, based on your body weight and how many ounces of fish you eat, if you are taking in dangerous levels of Mercury, and also gives an easy breakdown of the nutrient values of each fish. Any dedicated seafood lover would appreciate this little gem.

Sites such as Tanning Disasters remind me to stay out of the sun and go easy on my bronzing in winter, because unlike turning into an over-exposed, wrinkled grape under the sun, I’m in control with bronzing powder. Read more

This blog, Angel Does Stuff, features a cardboard cutout of Buffy The Vampier Slayer’s Angel doing fun things like grabbing something to drink out of the fridge, or standing next to a Betty White calendar. These photos shouldn’t interest me at all, but I just can’t look away. Read more

Artist Cory Arcangel made this website as a fictitious fan page for the eighties pop singer Christopher Cross. It’s in Arabic and designed to look like it’s from the early days of the Internet. It captures that feeling completely and reminds me of how far Internet culture has come. Read more

Forget hurling sneakers at George Bush. That’s a waste. He’ll only duck them anyway. Think twice about chucking your kicks at John Howard. He’s too quick for us. Now you can toss a virtual shoe at Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and take your frustrations out on the world without being hauled off in cuffs.

There’s some sort of Borat joke that Sheep On Motorcycles hints at, but really, you don’t need to look much deeper than the fact that sheep riding motorcycles is kind of nuts. Read more

An advice column for women wanting some help understanding the mystery of dudes, but an hilarious and thoughtful read for anyone, dude problems or no. Part of why I like it so much is that it can be really funny without being at all snarky or mean or cooler than thou. It’s funny and dirty and humble and good natured, which is a weird and refreshing mix.

If I were looking for the next Andy Samberg, I’d be watching the shit on Channel101, which is where he came from. I still cherish and quote jokes from the short lived series House of Cosbys [watch below] and Yacht Rock [watch below], both of which were created by members of the DIY LA community behind this website. Those two shows are old now but still funny. Read more

Dead man porn for your still beating heart. That’s the tagline to a fabulous blog I recently discovered. It takes historical characters from the past and evaluates them in regards to their ‘bang-factor’. You get to see the pros and cons nicely visualized in a proper pie chart for your consideration too. Now, that’s what I call a sexy history lesson. Read more
David Istvan employs animation, painting, illustration and graphic design to speak about the serious issues of today’s, and yesterday’s, society. The cynically brutal humor he uses in his art and title wordplays serves as a glimpse of the potential horror of tomorrow.
Technical illustrator James Provost created a DIY automated ‘intern,’ basically a robot pen that can create simple drawings.
Peter Nalitch is Russia’s answer to Manu Chao. His video for the song Guitar is a Borat-like jab at low-budget, post-Soviet awkwardness — absurd English lyrics, Eurotrash earnestness, bad wipes, and cheap subtitles. But its tongue-in-cheekness is quite apparent, and the song is disarmingly catchy and romantic.
The graduate exhibition of third year graphic design students at Sydney’s Design Centre is called 342 Seconds and relates to the estimated time required to view the show. The exhibition takes place on December 3 and looks to be well worth checking out, if these works by Jenny Lee [above] and Sean Batchelor [below] are anything to go by. You can check into their blog and stay up to date with events leading up to the opening. Read more
As someone who thinks more about traveling than actually gets to do it [damn, it should really be the other way around], it was good to come across the latest batch of Wallpaper* city guides the other day. Living vicariously through the pages of the Berlin edition at least made my next choice of holiday destination that much easier. Read more
The song Blasphemous Rumours by Depeche Mode is just about the most dark, beautiful thing I’ve ever heard. There’s something very compelling about it all: it’s gloomy and depressing during the verses, but then this sexy, almost hypnotically melodic chorus bursts in out of nowhere. The song came out in 1984 and is reputedly based on a true story, with singer Dave Gahan concluding at the end of it all: ‘I don’t want to start any blasphemous rumours but I think that God’s got a sick sense of humour, and when I die, I expect to find Him laughing’. Brilliant.

Ok, so that’s me up there on the right. Yup, rocking out in the 55DSL tee and feeling a little pleased with how it’s all going down. Well, actually, a disclaimer: it’s not … quite … me. I mean, I’m wearing the same shirt right now as he is, and I’m kinda the same height. But he isn’t the same person. We aren’t one. But I love this 55DSL shirt in the same way that he … ummm … loves himself. So I guess that we’re both damn happy. Read more
