By Kira Heuer in Video on Monday 8 February 2010

Remember how, as a kid, teachers created an atmosphere of FUN as the best way to learn? It was an inspired place for imagination and support. This weird, slightly-creepy video of a chubby kid lip-syncing the Cuppycake Song circulated the web like any other cute oddity until it was discovered that the boy in the video, Sam Castle, has a life-threatening kidney disorder, one effect of which is his excess weight and his stunted growth. His Internet celebrity helped call attention to his plight, and he has since appeared on the Tyra Banks Show, The Doctors, and alongside the original singer of the Cuppycake Song, Amy Castle (no relation).
