I own three replicas of para-surrealist painter, Remedios Varo. All three paintings involve masks, secret identities and (depending on your take) hidden self-truths. If I could afford it, my entire house would be a gallery to this amazing artist often overshadowed Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and recently passed Leonora Carrington, all of whom Remedios met after fleeing occupied France in 1941 for Mexico City.

When I came across his work, I thought it was a combination of Frida Kahlo and Gustav Klimt, if the two legends spent an afternoon together discussing life, politics, war, spirituality and the demise of the spirit.
