If you haven’t put up your hand to volunteer four hours of time in exchange for a ticket to the RockCorps gig at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, you really should. Guy Sebastian, The Script and Tinie Tempah are coming to Sydney on April 11 to play a gig for all of the volunteers that have used their own spare time to help out the community; don’t you worry the artists themselves will also be doing four hours of volunteer work too. If you need anymore encouragement, check out the above video of David Guetta, Razorlight and Busta Rhymes smashing it out at the RockCorps event in France.

My trip to Paris brought me to some incredible realizations. One, Parisians are crazy. Two, they know how to throw illegal parties. This particular event was entitled Zen Guerrilla and it took place in some farmlands 45 minutes outside of Nantes. We arrived in the afternoon; the circus tent had been erected earlier that morning. It rained all day, and we hung out in caravans smoking rolled tobacco with hash. By 11pm, the fair grounds began to get busy and by the time my friends went on to play the tent was packed with at least 400-500 bodies.

By 5am, I was dying to leave this place, there simply was no limit to their madness. It was the metal grinding station and electric guitar hooked up in the bushes that really sent me into a swell of fear and depression. They had lots of beer, a fully functional wet bar, and a wrestling ring made out of hay, tires and old mattresses. Here’s some footage from the main performance, Stand High Patrol.

French artist Michel Blazy staged his Bouquet Final installation at a French medieval chapel with foam spewing forth from a metal structure that generates foam non-stop. It’s supposed to convey the message that art cannot be pickled and canned — it has to be experienced. Wonder if anyone skipped past through these skimpy Do-Not-Cross barriers to start a foam party. We definitely had that in mind.

Have you ever bought something at a thrift store or a yard sale and found something inside much more awesome than the item you actually paid for? Well, that’s just what happened to blogger and photography enthusiast Anton Orlov. According to Orlov’s blog, he opened up the Jumelle Belllieni stereoscopic camera he just purchased from an antique store and found negatives taken during World War I inside. Orlov developed the almost perfectly preserved negatives and discovered these beautiful rare images of the WWI French countryside.

It is a stunning place with a population of just 44 and while often busy with a number of the three million tourists who visit it each year.

In the main image, the salt meadow lamb (agneau de pré-salé) are visible – said to be the tastiest lamb in the world, due to the high mineral and salt content of the grass which is inundated by a rushing high tide which can rise up to 14 metres, once described by Victor Hugo as moving “as swiftly as a galloping horse”.

Laurent Chehere is a French photographer who used to work in advertising but left his job one day and decided to go travelling around the world with his camera. When he returned to France, he knew what he wanted to do with his life: he would live his two passions, travelling and photography. Laurent has been working with photography ever since and draws inspiration from exploring cities, suburbs, countries and architecture. These are some photos from his recent project, Flying Houses.

This is definitely my new theme. A subtle mix between country and electro; Pedro Winter meets Hank Snow. Some of the songs sound more like early Birdy Nam Nam. This is because this French band is composed of DMC’s guys, another guy from the very sweet hip hop band, Hocus Pocus, and the two others are members of the internationally known group, Beat Torrent.

French street artist C215 certainly knows how to colour coordinate.
From pensive clowns to brooding gents, and even french bulldogs that are just a little too-cute, his intricate multi-layered stencils inject refined beauty into concrete jungles across Europe.

Motoi Yamamato has again used salt to create a monumental floor painting, which he refers to as ‘his Labyrinth’. His latest piece, found in Toulouse’s Fondation Espace Ecureuil, is another feat of artistic labour: 50 hours of work over five days and 2,200 pounds of salt.
The work is an exercise in catharsis: in Japanese culture, salt is a symbol of purification and mourning, and he started sketching with salt to honour his sister’s passing from brain cancer. As with his previous showing in Cologne, when the exhibit closes, Yamamoto will invite patrons to dissemble the labyrinth and take the salt with them to scatter in the sea or soil — anywhere it might contribute to a new beginning.
