This film proves again that Penelope Cruz can act, Ben Kingsley is one of the best actors of our time, and men, regardless of their age, never stop lusting after young women. Kingsley plays an aging lecturer and literature critic who falls for a student, played by Cruz. To his surprise, his affections are returned and he finds the love that has avoided him his entire life. It’s his own insecurities that then create problems with this relationship, not helped by the advice from his peers and a son who has never forgiven Kingsley for abandoning him. This film perhaps should’ve been shorter, but three-dimensional supporting characters with their own problems, philosophies and histories add real depth and thoughtfulness to this compelling meditation on love and relationships.
Whether you think it’s a beautiful expression of civil disobedience/public art or a wanton act of vandalism, the cyclists who dumped thirteen gallons of paint at the busy Rosenthaler Platz in Berlin were ballsy, and they definitely made an impact with the passing traffic creating colorful lines all over the road.

Peter Nalitch is Russia’s answer to Manu Chao. His video for the song Guitar is a Borat-like jab at low-budget, post-Soviet awkwardness — absurd English lyrics, Eurotrash earnestness, bad wipes, and cheap subtitles. LightBot is a difficult, but satisfying game in which you direct a little robot using a system of simple commands in order to light up various squares on a grid. The first few levels guide you through the seemingly easy process, but when there are multiple sets of directions requiring you to write what are essentially codes, it can get pretty hairy.

As if this season’s dresses weren’t delightful enough, here’s another reason to liquidate some stock and ruin your credit rating. First Prada and James Jean, now the top end retailer, Nordstrom: the exploration of art by fashion is long overdue, but well worth the wait. The Nordstrom campaign brings together three great things: the Cuban illustrator Ruben Toledo, the fashion photographer Ruven Afanador and the elvin Jenny Sweeny. Just looking at it makes me want to wrap myself in Cavalli and paint my walls bone shell white.
