Having blown away the recent SXSW Music Festival in Austin, two weeks ago, London-based electro-pop trio Chew Lips now have a new album to drive. Unicorn was produced by Dave Kosten (Bat for Lashes) and features impeccably-executed guitar pop that veers from grinding electro-grooves to fevered howls of beat-heavy R&B, all reflected in the first single, the popjestic, Karen.

We love this remix by Cambridge’s electronic-pop sensation Passion Pit of Sweden’s Shout Out Louds’ first single, Fall Hard. Evidently so do Pitchfork who described it as being ‘synthed up’. Indeed! There’s something quite attractively kitsch about the Lucky Dragons’ latest release, Dream Island Laughing Language. It’s undoubtedly unusual, and not too friendly on the ears, but something warm and fuzzy keeps creeping out of the broken drum rhythms and looped vocals. It’s a mish-mash of jangly folk licks, Squarepusher-style drum ‘n bass with a few Coco Rosie-esque experimental sound effects thrown in: intriguing, original, and fairly hard to describe!

Pencils made from recycled newspaper
The problem with awesome things like these pencils made out of recycled newspaper is that you almost don’t want to use them.
Inside this sea urchin shell is an organic perfume made from grapefruit and basil essential oils. This bottle, designed by Stephanie Simek, is refillable and is packaged in a wooden box decorated with a satin photograph and padded with slices of exfoliating loofah sea sponges.
