I had some art teachers when I was a kid tell me that painting from a photograph was inferior to painting from life. Ecuador-based artist Maureen Gubia proves my teachers wrong with her gorgeous paintings that play on the unique qualities of photographs and their interplay with memory and fantasy.
FOR CREATIVE INSPIRATION
In partnership with our friends at Optus, we present the third in a three part Lost At E Minor video series that puts the spotlight on some young, handpicked Australian creatives, doing inspirational things within their chosen fields. Episode Three features 16-year old Melbourne-based producer, Gab Strum (aka Japanese Wallpaper), who has racked up thousands of plays over the past year or so via a number of well-blogged remixes ranging from City Calm Down and The Townhouses to bootlegs of The xx and Bon Iver.
