New York City artist Ji Lee’s piece, Duchamp Reloaded, which consists of a replica of Marcel Duchamp’s Bicycle Wheel placed on the street and locked up like a bike, is a pretty hilarious one-liner for art nerds.
Check out these crazy watercolor portraits of aliens, cyborg, and beasties. This weird but beautiful output is by A.E. Brown, aka MedusaWolf. These look like creatures from some distant planet, each with their own story and inner, um, demons. Read more
We’ve posted about artists Maya Hayuk and Jen Stark individually, but now they have a joint exhibition, Double Rainbow Rainbow, up at the Show & Tell Gallery in Toronto. I wish I could make it. From the images on the gallery site, the two artists’ styles compliment each other perfectly. Read more
The very talented Jess Snow, the first video artist to be featured by Female Persuasion — the original site for provocative and political female artists — has created this ethereal short video for Lost At E Minor. One of my favourite venues in New York is Brooklyn’s Union Hall, right around the corner from Tamari, a super sushi joint. Upstairs they have two massive fireplaces burning and a bocce ball court. Yup, bocce. Downstairs you feel like you’ve walked into the museum of natural history where you can see live bands on a stage reminiscent of grandma’s living room.
Interior design website, Apartment Therapy, just posted some amazing pictures of ’70s rock stars in their parents’ homes. My favorite is of David Crosby and his dad [below]. The two look so completely opposite of each other that it’s hard to believe that it’s Crosby’s real dad. They also look like they’re barely concealing the contempt they have for each other. Crosby’s father was an Academy-Award-winning cinematographer who shot Tabu and High Noon, amongst other well-known films. Read more
UK-based one-man-band Sieben has a new album out: As They Should Sound. Frontman Matt Howden builds songs with a loop pedal and a violin, which he uses for rhythm and melody. His sound is wonderfully sophisticated and cabalistic, with a particularly British sense of lyricism.

Baltimore Mural by Josh Van Horne
My friend Josh Van Horne, a local Baltimore artist, did this amazing mural in our neighborhood that depicts the history of this warehouse-laden area.

Inspired by the unique digital clock apps created by the designer, Sean Zoega, the i-toc watch is a colorful physical manifestation of digital ideas featuring bespoke two-disc Japan quartz movement. The outer gradient displays the minutes while the inner gradient shows the hours. The rings interact, creating an ever-changing pattern of design and colour.
