I’ve been the resident portrait photographer at the Alternative Miss Ireland for sixteen years. It is without doubt the wildest night to be had in Ireland and raises an incredible amount of money for Irish HIV/AIDS organisations. The 18th and final pageant will be held on March 18 in the Olympia Theatre, Dublin.

In this third inspiration led HD web mini-film, I spend a day on a Dublin shoot with Irish photographer, Clíona O’Flaherty. O’Flaherty has a ‘thing’ for emotive light and soft pastel colours. You’ll see it come through in her work. She also has a penchant for lovely things, which is why, I suppose, she photographed the lovely Lisa Hannigan’s latest record cover, Passenger.

Maciej Pestka is a Polish born photographer I met at a film pre-production meeting in Dublin some weeks ago. He has been working shooting fashion in and around Ireland and Europe since 2008. Recently, his visual explorations have begun to include video, film and more time-based media. In Tele-Visions, he explores the representation of fashion through the lens of analogue home-entertainment content delivery aesthetics.

As an Australian creative based in Dublin, I have met and been inspired by a number of talented Dublin creatives working across all disciplines in Ireland’s capital. In this, the first in a series of inspiration led mini-films, we spend two minutes in the studio with Dublin illustrator Chris Judge. I spoke to Judge on the topic of inspiration and directed, shot and edited this mini-film.

In Baile Átha Cliath, we live amongst typography. It influences and informs our every day lives in Dublin, Ireland. This typography-led mini-film was directed and shot in and around central Dublin on February 25.

Irish firm Architecture Republic designed this beautiful renovation on an residential house in Dublin, which consists of a cruciform constructed out of polycarbonate and steel that extends from the center of the building out into a jutting, second-level extension in the rear of the house. The original facade is preserved, while the interior is completely reworked to be a sleek, open-feeling, modern living space.

Barry W. Hughes is an Irish media artist who has exhibited both digital and analogue photography, video and web-based projects throughout Ireland and internationally. Hughes’ practice involves the use of time-based media in exploring the conceptual themes of his work, such as psychological states relating to the process of time as interpreted by physical activity. He currently lives and works in Dublin.
