I think I’m in love. This is the most beautiful cellphone I’ve ever seen. “Home made” meets “cutting edge” in this super cool DIY cellphone project by David Mellis. For the reasonable sum of 150$USD, you can have all the parts to make a custom, laser cut plywood cellphone that is compatible with a standard SIM card and any GSM provider. A few months ago, I decided I had a wardrobe of redundant and boring clothing and set about enlivening them. I thought about acid jeans and tie-dying shirts, using permanent markers and spray-painting stencils. None of that ended up working, but I did find the magic of bleach! Now have my own t-shirt label where I use bleach to hand-paint limited edition designs onto 100% combed cotton t-shirts. The Bleachers are for those who are into non-mass-produced t-shirt designs, supporting local artists and being a little bit different from the pack.

Blik and Bruce Mau Design (BMD) just launched a do-it-yourself design tool that allows users to create eco-friendly wall graphics from the comfort of their own home. The DIY tool allows the user to become a graphic designer, creating personalized messages using dynamic letterforms. This sustainable line of wall graphics is generated from a customized font developed by BMD.

The letterforms allow users to spell a name, write a message or create interesting shapes. Using alternatives to the traditional PVC sources, the BLIK and BMD line of wall coverings is produced without sacrificing print quality, durability or ease of application. The material is non-vinyl, PVC-free and phthalate-free and contains no VOC’s.
