Two scuba divers were subjected to a truly unique experience only a few days ago in the waters surrounding of Costa Rica. Brazilian Thomaz Monteiro and Brian Thompson from Canada were midway through a dive off Bat Island when they noticed an approaching giant manta ray. Rather than turning away from the pair the ray, which was easily fifteen foot wide, continued closer.
Never mind these before-and-after shots — The Guardian compiled this photo collection of divers at the recent FINA World Championships in Barcelona in mid-air as they tossed themselves into the water, as well as underwater, post-dive. In water or out of water, they’re equally graceful.
