Remember hyper-colour t-shirts and Wham’s day-glo video for Wake Me Up Before You Go Go? Yeah? Well these new jeans from Diesel are in the same ballpark. A special fluorescent coating, devised to be glaring under UV lights, is layered on the denim and cotton, so that on denim, hidden graphics are revealed under black lights. Back in the day, New Zealand pop absurdists, Split Enz were the finest damn Australasian band around. This track, I Walk Away, off their final album — Spellbound — is their ultimate moment: a hefty dose of pure melodic majestry, wrapped around the aching lyrics and quirky arrangements of genius frontman, Neil Finn.
Pop artist Ron English, an occasional contributor to Lost At E Minor, sent through some photos from his latest pop-up show, which featured a brilliantly eclectic blend of his social critique artwork. Read more
Illustrator Dallas Clayton has just published an awesome book called, wait for it, An Awesome Book. It’s a ridiculously cute, heart-rending children’s book, encouraging kids and adults alike to never lose our senses of wonder and imagination (psst, it could make a great late gift idea!)
Major Stars are another throwback ’70s rock band, playing Sabbath-flavored, guitar-driven psych tunes. But what sets them apart from the horde of Zeppelin-worshipping clones is vocalist Sandra Clarkson, whose voice is clean and feminine, but loud and aggressive — she doesn’t try to affect a Janis Joplin rasp. The band’s music also skews heavily towards the Acid Mothers Temple end of the ’70s revival thing rather than the Wolfmother side, another plus. Nope, rock still isn’t dead.
The Kawaii floating rings from SouZou Creations range from beer pouring and gravy boats, to tea, all curiously perched atop your ring finger. Read more

The problem with awesome things like these pencils made out of recycled newspaper is that you almost don’t want to use them.
