For nearly two decades, Mark Riddick has done illustrations, album covers, and t-shirts for metal bands such as Devourment, Hirax, Deceased, Kataklysm, Nunslaughter, Slayer, and countless others. No one draws rotting corpses, severed goat heads, or piles of maggots quite like him.
It’s often assumed that great artists were born that way, which really isn’t true usually. Buddy Nestor, for instance, didn’t really start painting until the birth of his son in 1997. Now he’s a prolific painter, creating really demented portraits of women. I hope that’s not an indication of how he feels about his son. Read more
OK, so who said ice cream had to be boring? First we had the Hoffsicle, now comes this brilliant range of mini ice cream busts from Russian advertising agency Stoyn, who developed these popsicles based on iconic characters such as Marilyn Monroe, Donald Duck, Mario, and Che Guevara. Oh man, it’s a good thing I’m not living in Tokyo as I’d probably never leave the house. Japanese TV is the best. Want proof? Check out this clip from a prank show called Wake You Up where hapless victims are woken from their slumber in the most … ummm … ruthless of ways.
PLUS, designed by Mount Fuji Architects Studio, is an amazing weekend house built on the Izu-san mountainside in Tokyo, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The building is largely made of marble, and is so clean and zen in its form as to be unnerving. Read more

Now this is fun. The aptly named The Kooks cover the equally as aptly named MGMT for Australian radio network, Triple J. The song, Kids, is about as upbeat as any minor key progression can get. We like.

This weird creature is BuBo, born in the studio of Meritxell Duran in Barcelona, Spain. Bubo is happy hanging from the shoulder, playing inside with cell phones, keys, wallets and pens, and is made of natural latex in four different colors.
