Insekta is a collection designed by italian studio Kreativehouse. The moodboard is inspired by the shapes of insects and their world of color. The drawings, taken from original illustrations by Cristian Grossi, were applied to different supports to create a collection of unique products: a limited edition set of illustrated notebooks in recovered paper, a set of pins and tees.

Hell Ton John is a brilliant young artist and graphic designer from Tahiti, in French Polynesia. His painting is largely inspired by tattoos and Polynesian imagery, combined with patterns taken from street art. The contrast between the ancestral signs and urban graphics is beautiful.

Feathers, bubbles, fishes, raindrops: Laura Williams’ dreamy organic designs reveal a passion for sumptuous pattern that creates a wonderful underwater feel. Her work would make for dazzling wallpaper or fabric choices in public spaces – restaurants, clubs, hotels. Or even for one’s home. Hmm, now that I think of it, I believe I need to re-upholster my sofa.

On my last trip to the beautiful party island of Ibiza last summer, I discovered a label named Bonk Ibiza which represents handmade bags. This version of tote bag is by far the most stylish and unique I’ve seen. The special thing about it is that it’s not only the specific print, but also the braided carriers: powerful fluoro colors make it innovative and desirable. So far these bags are available only in Ibiza’s clothing store, More, but they can now be ordered online as well.

Sonic the Hedgehog is celebrating his twentieth anniversary this year. First released on SEGA Mega Drive in 1991, the famous blue hedgehog has become a worldwide gaming icon from a time when you actually had to plug the controller into the console and if you wanted to play against someone you had to go and get the kid next door. Sacrilege! This collection of video game advertisements from the 1980s and 90s features many of the classic motion pictures of the time and their accompanying video games. Of course, the collection wouldn’t be complete without other childhood favourites like Super Mario, Donkey Kong, and my personal favourite, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

What’s that? A high-fashion watch with both an artistic statement and a beautiful design? That’s what you get with Memento Mori, an exclusive watch designed by recent ECAL graduate Fiona Krüger. Drawing inspiration from the macabre art of the 17th century, the watch has a glass surface that highlights the intricate details of the clock work. Each piece is assembled and decorated by hand.

Daniel Zender is a freelance illustrator, designer, and printmaker living and working in Springfield, MO. His illustration work has been published by a number of magazines and books, including work in Communication Arts, HOW, 3×3, CMYK, and GoFish. Additionally, his poster work has been exhibited in international juried shows in Russia, Mexico, UK, France, Iran, and Chicago, where he received a bronze medal for his work with hand printed materials.

The Sketchbook Project collects thousands of artists’ sketchbooks from across the globe and exhibits them in cities all over the world. The crew just posted a sneak peek at some of the finished sketchbooks that have just arrived at Project HQ in Brooklyn.

The Juvenilia is an art and literature blog that aims to capture, in their words, ‘the strange beauty that forms when worldly perspectives come together’. Almost every contributor is from a different country, with content that ranges from stunning nature photography and cheerfully bizarre artwork, to philosophical musings and trilingual poetry.

The brainchild of inventor Pep Torres, the Museum of Ideas and Inventions of Barcelona (MIBA), is spread over two floors, connected by this glorious slide. Located behind the City Hall, this new museum aims to cast a discerning eye upon creative ideas and inventions.

Ghostly is a design-based music and art brand that works with artists we love, regardless of genre or medium. I had the great pleasure of interviewing our collaborator Michael Cina on our site. Cina talks about his inspiration, in particular the fearlessness an artist must face when staring into the face of uncertainty.

There are two gifts from my childhood I’m still asking for, and one is a treehouse. Enter German treehouse-making company, Baumraum. They build impressive architecturally designed and adult-friendly treehouses incorporating sustainable materials and specially engineered cables that avoid damaging the trees. The company has just published its first illustrated book, containing design details for both their realized and fictional treehouse designs. Now, that just leaves the carousel.

People care about a world crisis, until the next thing comes along. The Social Tattoo Project addresses this by tattooing volunteers with issues that the Twitter community votes deserve to be made permanent. Our brave volunteers know nothing about the tattoo they will receive, but dedicate their skin for the sake of empathy. Our last tattoo over Japan took place at the Social Tattoo Project gallery in New York City.

Together with her husband, Punky Chicken (aka Courtney James), has launched a collaboration website — Studio Jellyfish Design. They have been recently working on their hand-painted shoe line.

Swedish artist Annika Nordenskiöld has made beautiful art out of concrete, and it’s even functional: turn them on and get a very personal light. No molds are used, the shapes are made by hand lying down, one side at the time. Concrete burns fast, she’s got around a minute to work while the concrete is shapable.

Twins is an installation project designed and developed by Lawrence Lek and Onur Ozkaya in London. The project develops a material system in which global form is determined by the accumulation of local joint movements and their collective deformation under gravity.

The modular nature of the system makes it behave like an architectural-scale fabric and allows it to be tailored for specific spatial conditions. Its first application is for an art gallery installation in London.
