You can help fight breast cancer by wearing one of those pink ribbons or you can make like a rock star and pick up one of these — ahem, two of these — rye bread buns. From one of Denmark’s largest bread manufacturers, Kohberg, come these beautiful buns wrapped in pink and all spruced up to be a real knockout on the shelf. Better yet, with every purchase money is donated to the Danish Cancer Society to help fight breast cancer. Sure beats throwing money in a jug. Pun intended.

While the green industry and most of the world were looking to Copenhagen for inspiration, New York City’s Mayor Bloomberg was in a helicopter, overlooking Denmark’s offshore windfarm, Horns Rev 2, the largest of its kind in the world to date. Bloomberg has his own offshore windfarm energy project already in motion, and with the Long Island wind project estimated to be operating at 700 megawatts, Horns Rev 2 (operating at 209 megawatts) will be easily replaced as the largest offshore windfarm. Oh No Ono is a quintet from Aalborg, Denmark. The band, which was formed in 2003, release their new record, Eggs, early next year on Leaf and Friendly Fire Recordings. So we checked in with them to find out about the music that inspired the recording. Guitarist and vocalist Nis Svoldgard started with the White Noise song, Love Without Sound [listen below]: ‘A bizarre pop song. It seems to have been created in a time vacuum in a place that’s never existed. I can’t even begin to think of how extremely hard and time-consuming it must have been making music like this in the 60s. The amazing thing is how delicate and sensitive this actually sounds’.

Each room in Copenhagen’s Hotel Fox is an individual piece of art. 21 international artists descended on the hotel to turn each of the 61 rooms into a unique space, featuring creative artwork ranging from Japanese manga to fluid graphic design. Read more
A few creative cats at Next Movie took the liberty upon themselves to revamp this season’s most anticipated movie posters. Their LEGO-fied touches truly give blockbusters a whole new meaning.

Concept albums have always been a hit or miss affair, all too often to be taken with a pinch of salt. Some work brilliantly; many fall flat on their esoteric face. Dr John’s response to Hurricane Katrina is an intriguing album. Some is rousing, some depressing: it’s littered with political statements, perhaps too much at times but given it’s purpose the over-saturation isn’t surprising. Read more

The return of the Brionvega rr226
Italian brand Brionvega has resurrected the classy Radiofonografio piece first created in 1965. The updated version is just like the original turntable/radio unit, but also has a CD/DVD player.

Parisian visual artist Francoise Nielly brings technicolour to the forefront in her latest series, Yellow. Featuring thick impasto palette knife strokes and trippy neon hues, Nielly captures the vulnerable expressions of her muses to a tee. Read more

My friend Josh Van Horne, a local Baltimore artist, did this amazing mural in our neighborhood that depicts the history of this warehouse-laden area.
