Fashion really is a process of metamorphosis. First there were skinny jeans. Then super-skinny. Then leggings. Then ‘Meggings’ (leggings for men). Now we’re about to go one step further, if Artsu have anything to do with it. Male models strutted the catwalk at Australian Fashion Week in a kind of hybrid-jodhpur: skintight to the knee then flared above with a baggy crotch. Teamed with military-influenced jackets and tees, it’s going to be a long black summer according to Artsu. The collection continued the gothic romantic trends of winter into the warmer months ahead (good news for us Aussies, as we can recycle our current winter wears!) With a darkly Victoriana influence and a nod to equestrian styling we reckon the look will be galloping out of the stores in no time.

Who says the Swedes have got a monopoly on seasonal ice hotels? This one in Kemi, northern Finland, is the world’s largest snow castle, standing seventeen metres high and with walls that are 1,100 metres long. It has restaurants, an art gallery, a hotel and a chapel. In fact, since opening in the early 1990s, it’s been quite a hit for tourists to get married at the snow chapel. Richard Colman is one hell of an awesome human being. I go back and forth on whether or not I enjoyed him more in his drinking days or post drinking days. I guess there are pros and cons to both scenarios. He is a very talented man and a close friend. We have exchanged ideas over the years and pushed each other in the true spirit of oneupsmanship. He’s proven to be a great source of inspiration.

Scanners’ new single Salvation
I love this track by London based rock group, Scanners, which is off their latest album, Submarine. Having toured with acts such as The Horrors, The Wedding Present, The Charlatans, Electric Six, and Juliette & The Licks, Scanners could well blow up in 2010. Figuratively speaking, not literally. No, that wouldn’t be fun.
