Daft Punk (unmasked!) play their first ever NA gig at a rave called Even Furthur. This under-appreciated relic is abundant with dynamic sonic maneuvers, particularly the absolutely life-affirming 303 drop about 3 and half minutes in. So, students of pop culture, what do Emile Hirsch, Daft Punk, semi-naked men and furious crotch-thrusting have in common? The components of a lovely evening? Good answer, but I was looking for the new video for Daft Punk’s Alive. It is Hirsch’s directorial debut, and if this is just a taster, I like the cut of this kid’s jib.

If You haven’t heard, the new album — Nothing by N*E*R*D — has finally hit the shelves after numerous delays. The second single off the album is Hypnotize U, which has been produced by Daft Punk. In the video for the single, Pharrell has several women living in his home under hypnosis.

While we’re on a Daft Punk trip, Interstella 5555 is a feature-length Japanese animated movie made to accompany the soundtrack of their 1993 album, Discovery. Each track from the album was animated under the supervision of Leiji Matsumoto as an episode in the story of the ‘abduction and rescue of an interstellar pop band’.

 

Sophie Magalashvili is a Georgian art student, currently living and studying in Budapest. She creates lovely paintings and illustration art that takes you back to your early childhood. Her motifs are magical, dark and colorful, yet very sophisticated in their unique simplicity. Read more

This striking design — still in the planning stages — aims to covert a desolate, disused sand mine into a thriving environmental preserve and eco-resort. The development lists an impressive array of green designs, including living walls and a five-acre green roof, and effortlessly succeeds in that all important eco-feature of blending in with its surrounding environment. Inspired by the unique digital clock apps created by the designer, Sean Zoega, the i-toc watch is a colorful physical manifestation of digital ideas featuring bespoke two-disc Japan quartz movement. The outer gradient displays the minutes while the inner gradient shows the hours. The rings interact, creating an ever-changing pattern of design and colour.
