We’re excited about the upcoming Michael Mararian of M. Mararian’s Inky Dreadfuls exhibition of new works — Phobias, Foibles and Fiends — which is opening in July at Culver City, California’s Corey Helford Gallery: ‘The exhibition features an installation of over thirty macabre ink renderings which reflect a humorous, yet intensely personal examination of lost innocence in our modern society, dealing with psychological fears, character flaws, and complexes of the human id. Demolition Derby, a print by Toronto photographer Finn O’Hara, reflects his fascination with environmental portraits, which play off the experiences and the personalities of those who live or inhabit the space itself. Our friends over at Feature Shoot have the print available for purchase for $50.
The title of Best Mom Ever has officially been won. Julie made her babies these Star Trek and Star Wars felt activity books. With a couple of tribbles, er, quibbles, I have to say these are possibly the only books a toddler could ever need. Now I understand the hipster fetish for Mormon Mommy Blogs. Films involving characters faced with an impossible choice never make easy viewing, an example being the Nick Cave Australian gem, The Proposition. A nightclub manager, played with understated power by Joaquin Phoenix, is the victim here, and you actually feel truly uncomfortable as his predicament unfolds. Set in the 1980s, We Own The Night shows a real nostalgia for that period — particularly in the costumes. Read more
I love the interesting lines and clever use of sustainable materials found in the Klein Bottle House, a holiday place in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. The architects, McBride Charles Ryan, based the design around the concept of the Klein Bottle, ‘a descriptive model of a surface developed by topological mathematicians’. Read more

Yellow Fever are a great duo from Austin that harkens back to the girl-fronted indie bands of the 90s. At times Breeders-ish, at others referencing garag-y sounds from other eras, their simple and heartfelt songs remind us of why we all thought mismatched Converse and unkempt androgyny was so cool in the first place.
