I love Crif Dogs. I’m sure most of the locals in New York know about this awesome hot dog place, but for those new to the area, it’s a must see, do and eat. Deciding on what hot dog your belly desires is probably the most difficult thing to do here as there are many to choose, from the classic New Yorker to my all time favourite, Spicy Redneck: a house dog, bacon wrapped, with chilli, cole slaw, and jalapenos. You may need to get two hot dogs and a side of tatar tots to fill your stomach, as I was craving more. While I was waiting, I killed some time playing my favorite 80s arcade game, Galaga. Also, you may get invited into their secret bar, PDT. You need enter the phone booth to answer a secret password or just be let in by chance.

Sydney is not as well known for its great bars as other Australian cities. The city centre is dominated by over-priced style bars, while the suburbs are ruled by beer barns overflowing with terrible music, pokies, and sports. Nestled in the back streets of Surry Hills, surprisingly close to the city, The Cricketer’s Arms bucks the trend, with an open fire-place, great contemporary music selection, comfortable couches, a cosy outdoor area, decent food, free board games, and the laidback vibe that’s now all too rare in Sydney. San Fransisco-based artist Alexis MacKenzie must be patient. She has to be in order to create beautiful collages from the vintage books that she collects. There’s an amazing amount of detail in each piece. Elements are painstakingly transplanted from book to paper with scissors and glue. No Photoshop cut n’ pastes here.
Illustrator and artist John Malloy has been working on a graphic novel called Channel One and, without wanting to sound too much like Paris Hilton, it’s looking pretty damn hot. Update!
